I have been chosen as a featured artist for the Terriers Around Town!
Terriers Around Town is a yearlong fundraising outdoor art project that includes businesses, artists and students from West Springfield, MA. The town Mascot is a West Highland White Terrier (Westie). Fiberglass Westies will be painted by chosen artists (like me) and displayed in ‘litters’ throughout the main streets of West Springfield.
Each terrier is sponsored by businesses and Balise Motor Sales will be sponsoring my Westie! I won’t give any clues as to what exactly my Westie will be yet – maybe another day. Tonight however, I pick up my unpainted “naked” fiberglass puppy at the “Naked Puppy Party”. I’ll post pictures maybe tomorrow!
Once the puppy’s are completed they will be displayed and businesses will have special events to unveil their terriers and have specials linked to the Terriers Around Town theme, videos on the local access channel, guided tours, special art days and parties, and a parade at the Big E on West Springfield day. At the end of the display period the animals will be taken in and auctioned off to the highest bidder. The outdoor art project is expected to bring in visitors from all over New England and beyond.
